What Do You Mean By ‘(e)stately cooking’?

It all started with an estate sale. I saw a stack of recipe cards that no one had claimed. A couple of dollars were exchanged, and the notecards were mine. Since then, I’ve been to a few other estate sales and picked up books and recipe boxes with more cards on them.

However, I don’t want these to wither away into obscurity. These were recipes shared and given between family, friends, colleagues, and fellow churchgoers. Cooking, and recipes, are meant to be shared! So I felt sad seeing these things go untouched, and if they weren’t sold- probably into the trash.

But I don’t want to sit on them and let them stay in the shadows. As a result, I thought it would be fun to write a blog detailing the recipes I’ve found, maybe even detail the results of what I’ve attempted, or any modifications (my best friend is on the keto diet and wanted to adjust some of them to her needs) so that others can give them a try. I will also add the name of the individual this came from and where I got the recipe. This way, if people are out there, looking up information on their older relatives, they may find information on them here, or at least an idea of food they loved.

While I’m mostly known as a gamer, I also love food. I firmly believe that recipes and good food are meant to be shared and enjoyed by friends, both near and far. This way, these notecards- some clipped, handwritten, worn, discolored, or even stained- can be given a second chance at life, instead of being lost to the trash somewhere.

If you try any of these recipes out, let me know in the comments of each one!
